   One newspaper clipping titled "40th Congress for Doctors Opens April 3" announcing the 40th annual Gill Spring Congress, a refresher course in diseases of the eye, ear, nose, throat, and allied specialties. The Congress was held at the Hotel Roanoke from April 3-7, 1967. The annual Spring Congresses were founded by Dr. Elbyrne G. Gill of Roanoke.

   A souvenir edition of a supplement paper for the 75th anniversary of the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce. It contains old advertisements from Roanoke; a list of businesses that have supported the Chamber; a list of Presidents of the Chamber from 1889-1964; and a roster of Officers and Directors of the Chamber in 1965.

7. 85th Anniversary Hotel Roanoke, 1967 - A color photograph of Hotel Roanoke staff members serving the 85th-anniversary banquet in December 1967. Eleven men and women are standing behind the main table which is elevated and has a large semicircular banner behind them featuring the logo "A return to elegance" and the number 85. To their left is an American flag and on the table there is a wood podium with the Virginia seal on the front and the words "Hotel Roanoke." There are elaborate flower arrangements to either side of the podium. Below the main table is a round table set for eight with the number 3 on it. The people in the photograph are from left to right: an unknown waiter; Jean Powell; Mildred Watkins; Alex Alexander; unknown; Warren Webb; George McReynolds, manager; Chef Fred Brown, creator of the famous Hotel Roanoke peanut soup; unknown; Billy Davis; Claude Minter.

The photo shows the Norfolk & Western Railroad Passenger Station, the Norfolk & Western Railroad General Offices Building, the Norfolk & Western Railroad Shops, and the Hotel Earle on Campbell Avenue. It also shows the viaduct connecting Williamson Road and Salem Avenue. There are passenger and freight trains on the tracks. The covered swimming pool at the hotel is visible at the rear of the hotel.

    Specifiations for a new hotel in Roanoke, most likely Hotel Roanoke. Enclosed in a light brown paper, the contract itself is a perriwinkle blue color, made up of seven pages typed, with additional red areas crossed out, and handwritten note additions. The specifications were created by George T. Pearson, architect at 47 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and includes sections on brick mason's work, carpenter's work, windows, doors, and ...
