B&W photo four men in suits standing in front of a plaque. unveiling of plaque at N&W passenger station, Roanoke, Virginia (Big Lick at the time of photo), this commemorates arrival of the first train in Roanoke over the Virginia & Tennessee Railroad (N&W predecessor line) on November 1, 1852 . From Left to right in picture are Ben F. Moomaw, then secretary of the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce; B.W. Herrman, the N&W vice president-traffic; E.R. Johnson, then president of the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce; and Dr, W. C. Campbell, pastor emeritus of Roanoke's First Presbyterian Church, who gave the invocation.

4. Looking West Along Norfolk and Western Tracks, circa 1895 - A black and white photograph looking west along the Norfolk & Western railroad tracks and station. Norfolk Avenue is visible on the left side and, on the right, Shenandoah Avenue, Hotel Roanoke, and the first Norfolk & Western offices. This photograph was taken prior to 1896 when this Norfolk and Western office building burned.

5. Norfolk Avenue/Roanoke, Virginia 1915 - A photographic view of Norfolk Avenue looking East from Jefferson Street about 1915. The street is unpaved with a board fence separating the Norfolk & Western tracks from the street.The bridge seen crossing the tracks is at what is now (2014) Williamson Road. Nearer to the camera, the passenger bridge over the tracks, connecting the Norfolk & Western station to the passenger platform, can also be seen. The touring car seen in the photo is probably owned by George C. Davis, the photographer commissioned by Edward L. Stone to photograph the poor condition of Roanoke's streets to tweek Roanoke City Council.
