Refers to sale of land in Henry County, crops, neighbors, and family. Mrs. Trist was returning from a stay at Monticello and mentions that Mr. Jefferson had been ill, but planned to travel to Poplar Forest in about 10 days.

Letter from Thomas Jefferson to Mr. Clay, dated November 10, [18]15, posted from Pop[lar] For[est]. Mr. Jefferson mentions a recent trip to Peaks of Otter and his observations made while there. He mentions a plant called "otaheite", or paper mulberry, which is "charming near a porch for densely shading it."
