   A letter to the City Manager, Mr. W. F. Hunter, from H. W. Hobson. Pertains to the poor condition of sidewalk on Hamilton Terrace near Mr. Hobson's residence and would like it to be maintained during inclement weather. Letter written on letterhead of Roanoke City Mills. The Roanoke city directory for 1918 lists Mr. Hobson's address as 1418 Hamilton Terrace SE, and that he hold the position of Secretary with Roanoke City Mills.

Each bag shows a U.S. Navy battleship surrounded by gold braid with two gold wheat stalks beneath. Flying from the ship is an American flag, above which are the following words in black: "AMERICA'S BEST". Above that, in smaller red letters is printed: "25 Lbs. Net Weight". Below the battleship, is printed: "SELF-RISING FLOUR, ENRICHED WITH VITAMINS AND IRON, BLEACHED, Contains: Vitamins, Iron, Calcium Phosphate, Soda and Salt. DIRECTIONS: Simply add Lard or any good shortening, Make soft dough with water or sweet milk. Don't use Baking Powder, Salt or Soda". On the sides of the bag the following is printed in red: "OUR GUARANTEE, Every bag of this flour is guaranteed to give absolute satisfaction or your dealer will refund the purchase price".
