8. Sir Alexander Fleming, circa 1950 - A black and white photograph of Sir Alexander Fleming, seated in the office of Dr. Elbyrne Grady Gill. Sir Fleming is known as the discoverer of penicillin. In 1945, he was awarded The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. He was born in Ayrshire, Scotland on August 6, 1881, and died March 11, 1955.
