2. Burrus Hall at Virginia Polytechnic Institute - Virginia Polytechnic Institute is a state college of agriculture, engineering and business established in 1872 as a land-grant college. Its founding marked the beginning of scientific agricultural and industrial instruction in Virginia. It is located 38 miles southwest of Roanoke, Virginia. In 1896 the name changed from Virginia Agricultural & Mechanical College and Polytechnical Institute and shortened to Virginia Polytechnic Institute. In 1944 Virginia Tech was affiliated with Radford College, a women's division of the college, until 1964 when it became coed. Some of the nation's top engineers are graduated from this school each year. Burrus Hall was named after the first alumnus president and is the main administration building. Its auditorium seats over 3,000 and houses several department in the College of Agriculture. The original building was completed in 1936, the west wing and rear were added in 1968, and the east wing was completed in 1970.

5. George Preas as a Baltimore Colt - A black and white publicity photograph of George Preas, a Roanoke native who was a football standout at Jefferson High School, Virginia Tech, and lastly with the Baltimore Colts from 1955-1965. The Colts won the old National Football League championship (which was the equivalent of the super bowl at the time) in both 1958 and 1959. Preas was a dependable offensive tackle for the Colts and threw a crucial block for his quarterback, Johnny Unitas, in the 1958 championship game against the New York Giants led by quarterback Y.A. Tittle. At the time that victory was referred to as "the greatest game ever played".
