1. Baseball player - Two black and white photographs of Glenn H. Lemon wearing the baseball uniform of the Virginia Bridge & Iron Company. He was a student at the time. Summer baseball games were plentiful in the Roanoke, Virginia area when this photograph was taken in the mid 1920s. In addition to Virginia Bridge, teams were fielded by Walker Machine & Foundry Corp., Norfolk & Western Railway Co., Times-World Corp., Viscose, Appalachian Power Company, and the towns of Salem and Vinton. Many of the games were played at Maher Field. Lemon resided with his family at 109 McClanahan Place in the City of Roanoke, the setting for this photograph. Mill Mountain can be seen in the background.

2. John Kelly Photo Identification Pin - The object is a photo identification pin. The pin was issued to John H. Kelly on 7/29/1942. The front of the pin has a picture of John Kelly and has "AMERICAN VISCOSE CORP." written below the picture. The back of the pin provides information about John stating that he was 27 years old, he had brown hair and blue eyes, he was 5 foot 11 inches tall, and he was the "Plant Photographer". The back of the pin also has a gold colored pin used for attaching the pin to the user's shirt. The pin is attributed to John Kelly because the pin was his personal pin.

Carlton Parker and copyrighted July 14, 1931. Information printed on the photograph includes the following: "Roanoke, in the great Valley of Virginia, is midway between New York and Atlanta. Within a night's rail travel of Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York. The average elevation is about 1,000 feet; the mean temperature is 57.22. There are two radio broadcasting stations, WDBJ and WRBX. WDBJ is connected with the Columbia Broadcasting System. There are two trunk-line railroads radiating in every direction with 46 passenger trains daily. There are also 42 buses daily. Excellent hotels with moderate rates. The 142 industries and the utility companies employ 18,500 persons, with a payroll of $25,000,000.00. Located at Roanoke is the largest Rayon producing mill in the world; the largest railroad equipment shop, structural steel plant, and tin can factory in the south. Also the General Offices of the Norfolk and Western Railway System." The photograph also identifies Fort Lewis Mountain, McAfee Knob, Tinker Mountain, Read Mountain, Stewart's Knob, and Weaver Knob. Based upon the 1930 census, the population at the time was 69,206.
