4. Bibee's Super Market - A black and white photograph of the seafood, poultry, and select meats counters in the interior of a Bibee's Super Market in 1946. At this time the business had stores on Grandin Road, Luck Avenue, and Williamson Road in Roanoke, Virginia. Four unidentified men and two unidentified women dressed in white coats stand behind the white display counters. Hams hang along the tile wall in the background. The letter "B" adorns the front of each display counter and ice and food products appear through the display window of the nearest counter. A note on the reverse of the photograph describes this Parker Studio job as "Bibee's Meat Mkt." with a date of March 23, 1946.

13. Exchange Lumber Company - A black and white photograph of the Exchange Lumber Company, organized in 1899 by T. W. Goodwin, S. W. Jamison, B. P. Huff, and James P. Woods. The structure was located at what was then the northeast corner of the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Third Street (now 1255 Williamson Road, SE). The residences in the background, since razed, form a portion of the development known as Orchard Hill, being the old Terry orchard land.

15. Hitching Post Hotel, 1949 - A black and white photograph of The Hitching Post Motel, located at 7440 Williamson Road, near Hollins on the north side of Roanoke, taken in 1949. As its name suggests, The Hitching Post sought to provide a woodsy setting for its guests. There is a gravel road lined with white painted rocks leading up to the guest rooms, which are individual small houses with porches. On the sign there is the motel logo of a horse and buggy. The sign has neon lettering and a vacancy sign hanging below.

16. Interior view of Garland's Drug Store No. 8 - A photograph showing interior view of Garland's Drug store No. 8 located at 15 South Jefferson Street in Roanoke, Virginia. Walter B. Garland, the owner of the business, is shown seated on a stool at the left. The gentleman standing behind the counter is Wallace Eades, drug clerk. To his left standing behind the counter at the soda fountain are Mickey Spencer, Alberta Ferguson, and Hilda Green, in that order. The building housing the drug store was demolished in the 1950's to make way for the viaduct which brought traffic directly to Jefferson Street from what is now Williamson Road.

18. Lakeview Motor Lodge - A black and white photograph of the Lakeview Motor lodge located at 6910 Williamson Road in Roanoke, Virginia. There is a waterway between the road and the hill to the motor inn. There are two bridges over the water and there is a large round sign on the road with neon lettering. The motor lodge is an extension of a large older building with a columned portico. The mountains are visible in the background and an apartment complex can be seen on the hill behind the motor inn. There was an attached restaurant, named The Feedbox, that served excellent fried chicken. The bridged entrance and pond still remain, but the main building was razed. The North Roanoke Assisted Living facility is now located here.
