1. Gentleman in a Riding Outfit - A young gentleman stands at the center of the image in front of a marbled backdrop and on an oriental style rug. The man wears a pristine riding or driving outfit, including leather knee high boots, khaki colored saddlebag pants and long jacket belted at the waist. His hands drop to the sides, emphasizing the leather driving gloves. His dark bowtie stands out against the crisp lapels of his jacket and the white shirt underneath. A straw boater with a black ribbon sits jauntily on his head, cocked to the right proper. He holds a thin, unlit cigar in his mouth. A map or some other piece of folded paper sits in his left proper waist pocket. On the reverse is the space for a postcard. "Davis Photo Co. / 104 W. Salem Ave., Roanoke, VA." is stamped at the left edge, "POST CARD / Correspondence Name Addresses" & "Place Postage Stamp Here" with an embellisment in between Postage and Stamp, which looks similar to "Coke," stamped across the top of the card. Written upside down, in faded brown ink is the following: Why don't you come and go galloping with me at Catawba! You haven't got the nerve. I believe you're "chicken hearted." Well alright.
