1. Brick building - Black & white photograph of a brick building with a central walk through with an arched entryway. Windows on the right section of the building (including the gutter trim) are white, while the shutters and trim on the left are a darker color. Remnants of snow is seen on the roof, and on the sidewalk in front of the building. This is the Philadelphia home of David Flickwir, in which he lived before moving to Roanoke in 1881.

4. House in winter - Black & white photograph of the exterior of a house, taken after a winter snowstorm. The hedges along the wall in front of the house (seen in 2019.21.7.13) have been removed, and a black iron fence has been put in its place. Snow covers the front yard, bushes, trees, and the roof of the house. On the reverse, someone has written in blue ink: Snow storm 1940 winter - The iron fence topping the retaining wall was put up after the city widened Jefferson Street - property owners were asked to give the [illegible] feet to the city and as Uncle David had planned to it to that - I gave it and stipulated replacement of the wall and the fence to be added to keep people from comin in under the trees to eat lunch or rest while waiting for the streetcars - M.E.Y.
