The City Directory of 1892 described Michael Haley as a horseshoer at 30 Church Avenue and the City Directory of 1895 placed him at 29 Luck Avenue S.W., Roanoke, Virginia. This photograph, which features the business of "M. Haley, Practical Horse Shoer", was probably taken at one of the two locations. By 1900 the City Directory featured a full page advertisement for "Haley's Veterinary Horseshoeing Establishment" with Hugh Haley as proprietor at the Luck Avenue address. Several of the tradesmen in the photograph wear protective aprons. |
