A black and white photograph of Mr. Henry S. Trout seated at his desk in the President's office at the old First National Bank (Peoples Federal). The photograph was taken prior to 1926. Henry S. Trout was born in Roanoke County, Virginia on October 15, 1841. He served as a lieutenant in the Confederate Army, and was twice slightly wounded during the war. He served as president of First National Bank for nearly 30 years, served as President of Roanoke Gas and Water Company, and served eight years in the Virginia Legislature. He was a member of the House of Delegates from 1877 to 1881 and represented the district of the county and city of Roanoke and counties of Montgomery and Craig from 1882 to 1886 in the State Senate. He served one term as Mayor of Roanoke from July 1,1892 to June 30, 1894. |
