City Municipal Building |
Description |
Front entrance to the Municipal Building at the corner of Church and Campbell Avenue. The Municipal Building was built in 1915, and is now known as the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building, after Roanoke's first African American mayor, who served from 1975-1992. The building symbolized the steady growth and progress of the City. Architecturally, the neo-clasical revival structure is reminiscent of most government buildings as the time, but combined several governmental departments under one roof. |
