A black and white photograph of the newly constructed Burrell Memorial Hospital for Negroes completed in 1955 in Roanoke, Virginia. It was the first medical facility in southwestern Virginia built expressly to provide medical care for African-Americans. It is located on the northeast corner of McDowell Avenue NW and 7th Street NW. It was renovated as the Burrell Center in March 2004 to house office space for community services.
