Photo of Randolph street looking north at the intersection with Campbell Avenue. Picture is another of George Davis's series depicting the poor conditions of Roanoke streets. The series was comissioned by Edward L. Stone of Stone Printing company. Building on SW corner houses the Roanoke Railway and Mill Mountain incline companies. On the NW corner is the Hotel Shenandoah which became the Hotel Lee in later years folowed by the name change to Hotel Earle. On the NE corner is the Randolph Street Market and Foss-Shneider Brewing Company next door to the So Weighing and Inspection Bureau & N&W Freight Depot. Potholes are visible on dirt portion of Randolph street and the streetcar tracks on the paved north portion of Randolph. George Daviis's Buick coupe can be seen parked by the Roanoke Railway Company building. |
