The 470 mile parkway follows the Blue Ridge Mountains and at this location is at the mountain crest. Parkway construction began in the 1930's and was generally completed by the mid 1960's. This is one of several photographs taken on a Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce tour in 1956. "Sweet Annie Hollow, Virginia" is handwritten in the margin beneath the Image. |
