Image #1 is a photograph of the members of the 1930 Bedouins football team made up of former high school and college stars. The team was organized to play in a December 6, 1930, Christmas charity game against the Roanoke College squad. The game which was played to a 6 - 6 tie before a crowd of 1500 spectators was halted by dusk. It was played at Maher Field and featured unrestricted substitution. Image #2 reproduces the back of the photo and lists the names of those photographed. Team members Claude Moorman and Jere Bunting were mentioned in news reports of the game but are not pictured. "Chicago", the water boy, is included in the photograph. |
