Commemorative plate celebrating the 75-year jubilee of Roanoke, Virginia. 1957, American. The plate is white with black transfer prints. The middle of the plate has a picture of a steam locomotive on a track with people standing around it and mountains in the background. The following is printed in a circle around the image of the locomotive: "THE ROANOKE DIAMOND JUBILEE, 1882 1957, 75 Years of Progress." Along the outer rim of the plate are drawings featuring the following: "Street Scene 1882, Dogmouth Fountain, Early Street Scene, Hotel Roanoke, Mill Mountain and Star, First Theatre and Court House, First Street Car, First N & W Office Building, General Offices of Norfolk & Western, City Market, The Court House 1957, Vigilant Fire Station, and Big Lick's First Hotel." |
