Wooden Zither with Wooden Pick |
Description |
This American-made musical instrument is a zither. Wooden zithers such as this one were common in Germany and Austria. Forerunners of the Appalachian, or mountain, dulcimer, they were also popular in many American households and offered early settlers a very portable form of musical entertainment. Was found in the now demolished Garst cabin along Garst Mill Road in Roanoke County. |
