Description |
Wooden bed frame with original red wash stain. 20th-century, American. Made in Wytheville, Virginia by Rich Brothers (producers of handmade furniture). The frame includes the headboard and footboard; the side rails are missing. The head and foot boards each have six knobs for tying ropes to serve as "springs", in order to support the bedding. The head and foot boards have acorn-shaped finials on the four corner-posts of the bed. Known as a "rope bed". |
