Newspaper clipping from the Roanoke World News highlighting the the discovery of an 1879 bank journal from the Bank of Virginia, Big Lick. Kent Sink found the 756 page journal in the basement of the Mick or Mack warehouse on Second St and Norfolk Ave while doing some carpentry work. The Bank of Virginia, Big Lick, dissolved prior to 1882, when the First National Bank of Roanoke opened, but between 1879 and its dissolution, the bank dealt with accounts that made daily deposits, some of which were about $1000. |
