    Draft and unsigned letter from George Ellis, Trust Officer with the First National Exchange Bank, to R.D. Stoner, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Boutetourt County. The letter asks about a deed from William McClanahan to Michael Miller around the year of 1837, recorded in the office of Boutetourt County, in Deed Book 22, page 339.

    Graphite notes written on both sides of an envelope to Mrs. George Ellis, kindness of George Ellis. One of the notes, written on the verso of the envelope, contains minimal information on the deed of land between James Madison and Michael Miller in 1837. There is also a note on Col. Elijah McClanahan (assumed, as the name is in abbreviations) and Col. James McClanahan (again assumed).

In these notes, Kyle includes genealogical material for his side of the family, which included several Montagues (including a connection to Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor), as well as his Lewis connection- through Margaret Lynn Lewis, of whom the local D.A.R. chapter is named after.
