5. Find the Horse of the Thrown Rider - post 1854

   Drawing clipped from a newspaper - most likely meant as a brain teaser for children - primarily young boys. A cavalry charges forward, with several men lying on the grown behind the horses. The text at the top says 'Findthe Horse of the Thrown Rider.' Found with the family Bible of Samuel and Frances Fishburn, and was at one point most likely inside the Bible.

7. Hollins Horse Show Third Place Ribbon - Yellow third place ribbon for the Hollins Horse Show, 1945. Ribbon is made up of a silk rosette with a two ribbons hanging from the center. On the deep yellow silk covered button at the center of the rosette is 'Hollins College Riding Show 1945' in gold. A yellow cotton tab and a cotton twill tab have been added for ease of hanging to the back of the starched linen of the rosette.

8. La Grande Prix de Huemoz - Graphite drawing of a horse in three-quarter profile, its ears up and alert. The horse has a white blaze, and wears a western style bridle without the noseband. The drawing is signed in the lower right corner 'J.S.' in graphite. The mat has two concentric rectangles in silver just outside the beveled mat, adding to the decorative nature of the otherwise plain black frame. Adhered to the upper right hand corner of the frame is a small handmade paper rosette with two red and white gingham ribbons hanging from the bottom. In the center of the paper rosette, someone (most likely Jane) has written 'La Grande Prix de Huemoz' in fading ink.

On the silk covered button at the scenter of the rosette is the profile of a horse head, surrounded by two concentric circles, with the text 'Salem Horse Show' across the top, and '1941' and center bottom. 11. Veterinary Dental Parlor - This photograph, which features the veterinary dental parlor of Dr. P. Haley, V.D. was probably taken in downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The signage in the street level window particularly describes the business as a "Horse Dental Parlor" promising "Your Horses Teeth ---ed while You Wait". Three horses already within the horse dental parlor are held in position behind the window for the moment of the photograph. Two additional horses are held by an attendant just inside the entrance. A man in a dark suit and a straw hat holds a horse harnessed to a smart looking carriage on the street in front of the business. A ribbed sheet across the horse's back provides fly protection. A man wearing an apron stands just to the left of the dental parlor window. Several other men and boys appear in the photograph. American flags decorate the street level of the business indicating a special occasion. This unusual photograph was taken by C.E. Stuart, Photographer, 4130 Haverford Ave.

Ribbon is made up of a silk rosette with a two ribbons hanging from the center. On the yellow silk covered button at the center of the rosette is 'VPI' in gold, and placed in a gold circle. On the left ribbon, also in gold is "V.P.I. Horse Show," and on the right is "May 17, 1947"
