A letter from Thomas Lewis, dated March 17, 1767, recipient unknown, but evidently in the Virginia General Assembly, opposing division of Augusta County on grounds that the proposed new county would be too immense, its inhabitants too few, and too poor to provide necessary services (such as protection from the Indians), etc. Refers to his own plan for the boundaries of the new county if its formation cannot be prevented or delayed.
