2. Bibee's Super Market - A black and white photograph of the seafood, poultry, and select meats counters in the interior of a Bibee's Super Market in 1946. At this time the business had stores on Grandin Road, Luck Avenue, and Williamson Road in Roanoke, Virginia. Four unidentified men and two unidentified women dressed in white coats stand behind the white display counters. Hams hang along the tile wall in the background. The letter "B" adorns the front of each display counter and ice and food products appear through the display window of the nearest counter. A note on the reverse of the photograph describes this Parker Studio job as "Bibee's Meat Mkt." with a date of March 23, 1946.

   A cover letter from James F. McNabb, Secretary/Treasurer of W.W. Boxley & Company in Roanoke, Virginia, to Mr. George Kegley of the Roanoke Times & World News. The cover letter explains the Boxley Company's efforts to have the Boxley Building designated an historical landmark so that it can be included on the National Register of Historical Places. 7. Horton & Roberts Livery Stable, circa 1892 - A black and white photograph taken outside the Horton & Roberts Livery Stable located at 402 and 404 First Street SW in Roanoke, Virginia, circa 1892. This was also known as W.H. Horton & Company. The reverse of the photo identifies the individuals (left to right) as Joe Blair, Uncle Sam Calloway, John M. Roberts in buggy (penciled notation identifies this man as Uncle W.H. Horton), Jim Casey, and Clarence Johnson.

9. Lewis-Gale Hospital - 1945-1960

   A color postcard of Lewis-Gale Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. The original building, seen on the left, had opening day on February 29, 1910, according to Raymond Barnes in his "History of the City of Roanoke". The adjacent building was added by 1959.

10. M. Haley, Practical Horse Shoer - The City Directory of 1892 described Michael Haley as a horseshoer at 30 Church Avenue and the City Directory of 1895 placed him at 29 Luck Avenue S.W., Roanoke, Virginia. This photograph, which features the business of "M. Haley, Practical Horse Shoer", was probably taken at one of the two locations. By 1900 the City Directory featured a full page advertisement for "Haley's Veterinary Horseshoeing Establishment" with Hugh Haley as proprietor at the Luck Avenue address. Several of the tradesmen in the photograph wear protective aprons.

14. Snow of 1890 - A collapsed roof on the livery stable located at the NW corner of Henry (1st) street and Luck Avenue. Collapse was due to the heavy snowfall of 1890. The picture is looking North on Henry Street with the Bridgewater Carriage Company (brick building) seen at the NW corner of Henry Street and Church Avenue, one block north of the camera. Bridgewater Carriage later moved to the Norwich area of Roanoke. The identity of the stable could not be determined from the City Directory of 1890.
