  9. Letter - November 7, 1918

    A letter to the City Manager, Mr. W. F. Hunter, from H. W. Hobson. Pertains to the poor condition of sidewalk on Hamilton Terrace near Mr. Hobson's residence and would like it to be maintained during inclement weather. Letter written on letterhead of Roanoke City Mills. The Roanoke city directory for 1918 lists Mr. Hobson's address as 1418 Hamilton Terrace SE, and that he hold the position of Secretary with Roanoke City Mills.

Form must be filed to the Commissioner of Revenue on or before June 1, 1944, by any taxpayer owning personal property on January 1, 1944. Back of Form lists General Instructions on Fair Market Value, Paintings and Antiques, Conditional Sales Contracts, Automobiles, Payment of Taxes, and Tax Rate.

    Postcard of the National Exchange Bank Building, Roanoke, Virginia. The bank was chartered May 7, 1889. It eventually moved to 201 South Jefferson Street, on the southeast corner of Jefferson Street and Campbell Avenue. The reverse of the postcard has the following message "This picture was made over 40 years ago. Some change. Sincerely Ernest Baldwin." The handwritten date accompanying the note is 20 Oct. 1950.
