    A formal invitation from Hotel Roanoke inviting guests to a dinner dance commemorating the end of 107 years of service to the Roanoke Valley. The guests were asked to reply by November 8 and were told that the event was "black tie". The dance was to be held November 28, 1989 at 6:30 PM. The invitation has a reply card with stamped envelope and there is a large cream-colored paper-lined envelope to accommodate the folded invitation.

    Newspaper photograph of the Roanoke Valley Garden Club's New Officers, circa 1940. Mrs. Garland Hopkins was chosen president, Mrs. Robert Nelson, treasurer, Mrs. James J. Izard, first vice president, Miss Mary Eleanor Rorer, corresponding secretary, and Mrs. Frank Rogers, second vice president. The meeting was held at "Fairacres", the home of Mrs. W. C. Stephenson on Avenham Avenue. Mrs. Powell Glass of Lynchburg was the guest speaker.
