4. Baseball player - Two black and white photographs of Glenn H. Lemon wearing the baseball uniform of the Virginia Bridge & Iron Company. He was a student at the time. Summer baseball games were plentiful in the Roanoke, Virginia area when this photograph was taken in the mid 1920s. In addition to Virginia Bridge, teams were fielded by Walker Machine & Foundry Corp., Norfolk & Western Railway Co., Times-World Corp., Viscose, Appalachian Power Company, and the towns of Salem and Vinton. Many of the games were played at Maher Field. Lemon resided with his family at 109 McClanahan Place in the City of Roanoke, the setting for this photograph. Mill Mountain can be seen in the background.

7. Coin Bank. - The object is a coin bank and box for the Peoples Bank of Vinton. The object's box is blue and has written "SAVE AND HAVE" on the front. The box is worn and ripped. The coin bank is in the shape of a book and has the outside leather appearance of a book. It has written on it, "Peoples Bank of Vinton VINTON, VA". The top has a metal slot for the owner to deposit money, and a keyhole for the bank to open the device. The metal top is turning green. The bank belonged to John W. Boyle. The box could be taken directly to the bank to be unlocked and the money deposited directly into the savings account.

9. Cornerstone Laying Roanoke YWCA - A black and white photograph of laying of the cornerstone of the Roanoke YWCA, corner of Church and Second Streets SW, Roanoke, Va. by W.L. Andrews,PGM, presiding over Lakeland Lodge No. 190 and Pleasants Lodge No. 63, on October 10, 1914. The building was estimated to cost over $125,000.00. Mary Herringdon is holding the rope at the cornerstone. Also pictured, but not specifically placed, among the crowd are Mary Tayloe, Fred Mitchell and Harrington Payne. The plant was constructed by the Roanoke Weaving Company in 1936 on a thirty acre tract on Tinker Creek. For decades the mill produced textile fabrics. At the time this photograph was taken the mill was operated by Burlington Industries. Precision Fabrics Group, the current owner, now utilizes its highly skilled work force to produce continuous filament fabrics incorporated into a multitude of products including military uniforms, parachutes, and life vests.
