2. 1913 Roanoke High School Football Team - Image #1 is a photograph of the state champion Roanoke High School football team in 1913. Mill Mountain and Roanoke Hospital (Roanoke Memorial Hospital) as well as the bridges crossing the Roanoke River can be seen in the background. The area was known for years as the "fairgrounds" as this was the venue for traveling fairs and circuses. This photograph also appears in the 1914 "Acorns of Roanoke", the school's yearbook. Handwritten notes setting forth the season schedule and scores on the reverse of the photograph mat are shown in image #2. Based on the notes and a review of the 1914 yearbook the team consisted of Sidney Spangler, left end, Clay Starkey, left tackle, Moss Noell, left guard, Frank Helvestine, center, Horace Wall, right guard, Allen Gibbons, right tackle, Warren "Pig"Hobbie, right end, Joe Engleby, quarterback and captain, George Engleby, left halfback, David Matson, fullback, and Tom Divers, right halfback. Substitutes were H. Bottomley, C. Schubert, B. Boyer, N. Webster, and J. Wright. Roanoke High School was the predecessor of Jefferson High School.

Booklet has a green cover with a sketch of the flag of Ponce de Leon, a sailing ship, and a depiction of hinges on the proper right side. The pictures include the interior of the Ponce de Leon Hotel.

20. Roanoke Hospital and Incline, circa 1925 - A black and white photograph of Roanoke Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia taken between 1925 and 1930. This photograph shows the Flickwir Memorial Unit, or north wing of the hospital, which was constructed in 1924 and opened in 1925. The Mill Mountain Incline is visible to the right of the hospital building. David W. Flickwir, who would later be called Roanoke Hospital’s "Greatest Benefactor," was instrumental in the hospital’s growth in the first three decades of the 20th century. Several years after his wife, Charlotte, died of cancer, he began work to raze and reconstruct the hospital’s main building to honor her memory. In 1925, the Flickwir Memorial Unit, which still stands in the heart of modern Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital was completed. The name of the hospital still honors this loving and generous tribute
