    Envelope addressed to Mr. G. P. Breckinridge, University of Virginia, Albemarle County, postmarked with Blood's Dispatch with time and date, (this is the first time one of these letters has a time of day marked as 2:00 PM) and pencil notes are written on the upper left side of this envelope. A second post mark for Philadelphia was used to cancel the stamp which has been removed.

    George Jefferson Hundley was born near Mobile, Alabama in 1838. On his mother's side he was the great-great-grandson of Peter Field Jefferson, who was an uncle of President Thomas Jefferson. Orphaned at an early age he was reared by relatives in Amelia County, Virginia. He studied law in Lexington, Virginia, and was licensed to practice in 1860.
